Meet the London Illustration Fair team
The London Illustration Fair is an annual, artist-led illustration, print and graphic design fair, bringing artists and buyers together in a unique environment. The fair offers the chance for illustration lovers to come face to face with their favourite artists and discover amazing new artwork from emerging illustrators. There is something for every pocket from exclusive original pieces to prints and gifts for under ten pounds.
How do our events work?
Due to a successful move of venue to the Bargehouse on London's Southbank in 2015, The London Illustration Fair will now focus its attention to bring you one bigger, better and more entertaining event every year. This move will give us the opportunity to focus more time and energy to develop the online shop as well as refine the brand in a more creative and versatile direction.
Our aim? To explore the multitudinal microcosms of the illustration universe, championed by London's diverse Illustration scene. We want to seek out what contemporary illustration really means within todays society and what makes todays illustrators tick. So what can you expect?
The London Illustration Fair
The event (usually early December) sets out to showcase, support and champion the biggest and best, most creative and downright inspiring Illustrators, collectives, companies, galleries, creative start-ups out there who are making an impact in the scene today. Chosen via a judging panel of industry professionals and illustration heads. The artists are given creative freedom to expose themselves creatively to the world and show off what they do best. Artists are encouraged to engage, enrich and inspire their audience, sell you their goods and generally enjoy their time at the fair as much as they can. An illustration fruit and veg market if you will. In support of this cast of illustrators are a small handful of established artists, creative partners and guest studios to offer hands on experience, free gifts and a host of visual delights to add to the melting pot.
Here's where illustrators make a name for themselves, stand besides their peers and show you all what they've got up their sleeve. In addition expect plenty of mulled wine, murals, exclusive prints and a full on party vibe ripe for the festive month. Expect to splash paint with some of your favourite creatives, learn a technique or two, swap ideas or business cards with the agency of the moment or simply gaggle on about all things creative at our fully stocked bar.
Who are we?
Founded in 2013 by two school friends, Alastair Eland and Sam Bennett, who shared the belief that London was lacking a truly engaging and exciting platform for new illustration that listens to the needs of its illustrators and work closely along side them. Through a series of successful smaller events that focused heavily on the collective and collaborative approach of working with friends and associated peers the seeds of the company were sown. It is this approach that underpins the ethos of The London Illustration Fair and helps us create events that not only help promote emerging and established illustrators but provides an entertaining event that captures the enjoyment and creativity of an industry flourishing with talent and passion.
